Svishtov is the town in Bulgaria that can be called "The students' city". The town offers many opportunities for higher education. There are two Economy universities.
The economy in the town is supported mainly by the private sector.
The most cost-effective sectors are related to fishing and logging. The forestry in general is better developed than agriculture.
Тhe private sector is dominated by the manufacturing companies, agriculture and the hotel business. The backbone of the local economy is the service and trading sectors, although the industrial manufacturing the the most successful so far.
